About Théo

French Countertenor, Theo Imart, hailed by Classique news for "his lovely clear and evanescent timbre" graduated with distinction from the École Normale de Musique de Paris, then was selected for the 9th edition of the Jardin des Voix conducted by William Christie and Paul Agnew. He was awarded a special prize from the Dutch National Opera during the final of the 41st International Belvedere competition.

This season he will make two appearances at Theater St Gallen; in October 2023, Théo made his debut as part of the theatre’s reopening in the world premiere of Tobias Picker's Lili Elbe singing the Danish Countess, Dagmar, and Matron. Later in the season he returns St Gallen for their summer festival for Purcell's The Fairy Queen conducted by Corinna Niemeyer.

His opera roles include Idamante (Idomeneo in the opera Baugé), Cherubino (Le Nozze di Figaro), and Oreste (La Belle Hélène) in the open-air festival Musique en Ré. He has also performed as Amore, Anfinomo, and Giunone in Il Ritorno d'Ulisse in Patria at the Theater Basel, and as Marc in the title role of La Vieille Maison at Angers Nantes Opéra. With Les Arts Florissants and William Christie, he sang Ramiro in La Finta Giardiniera for a European tour (Theater an der Wien, Tchaikovsky Hall, Palais des Arts Reina Sofia).

In concert performances, he has performed Pergolesi's Stabat Mater and Vivaldi's Nulla in Mundo with Les Arts Florissants and the Royal Orchestra of Versailles in various festivals. He regularly collaborates with the Royal Orchestra of Versailles on different programs, such as 3 Countertenors, and has recently contributed to an Asian tour in April 2024, performing in nine concerts across China, including venues like the Shanghai Oriental Arts Center, Shenzhen Concert Hall, and Guangzhou Opera House, where he showcased arias by Vivaldi and Handel.
