Yuval Sharon directs brand new production of Mozart’s The Magic Flute at the Staatsoper Berlin

On Sunday 17 February, opera director Yuval Sharon will premiere his brand new production of The Magic Flute at the Staatsoper Berlin.

This will be the first new production of The Magic Flute at the Staatsoper in a quarter of a century, following a 25-year run of August Everding’s storybook production. Yuval’s production will include marionette theatre and flying singers.

“I wanted to bring the piece to life in a new way without feeling like it gets suffocated through my narrow view” – Yuval Sharon.

Yuval had a string of recent successes in Germany, including Lohengrin at Bayreuth Festival, Lost Highway at Frankfurt Bockenheimer Depot, and The Cunning Little Vixen at Staatstheater Karlsruhe.

Read more about what to expect from Yuval’s production, and view production images, in this article from Ben Miller of the New York Times.
