Fresh from highly successful concerts with the RTE National Symphony Orchestra of Ireland, the Staatskapelle Weimar, and Opera de Nice, this week sees Valeriy Sokolov give his subscription debut with the Orchestre de la Suisse Romande. Performing two concerts in Geneva (Victoria Hall, 8 February) and Lausanne (Theatre de Beaulieu, 15 February) Valeriy will be performing Paganini’s Violin Concerto No.1 conducted by Jonathan Nott. As the Staatskapelle Weimar’s newly appointed Artist-in-Residence, Valeriy will soon embark on a tour of the US with the orchestra. Giving eight performances, the tour will see Valeriy perform in Florida on 24 February, Massachusetts on 1 March, New York on 2 March, Connecticut on 3 March, Illinois from 8 – 11 March, and then finally in Oklahoma on 15 March. Joining the Weimar Staatskapelle’s Music Director Kirill Karabits, Valeriy will be performing Brahms’ Violin Concerto.
