Triple debut at Teatro Real Madrid



Sophie Bevan makes her role debut as Freia in performances of Wagner’s Das Rheingold at the Teatro Real Madrid in this revival of Robert Carsen’s production, conducted by Pablo Heras-Casado. Alexander Tsymbalyuk makes his house debut as Fafner and Dame Sarah Connolly makes her house debut as Fricka, having most recently performed the role at the Royal Opera House Covent Garden.

Engagements this season for Sophie include her debut in Mumbai with performances of Beethoven’s Symphony No. 9 and Choral Fantasy with Catherine Wyn-Rogers and Neal Davies, Wiggleworth’s Augenlieder with Finnish Radio Symphony Orchestra, a recital with Julius Drake at the Concertgebouw Amsterdam and performances as Governess The Turn of the Screw at Garsington Opera. Further future engagements include her first Countess and a return to Covent Garden.

After his house debut, Alexander will return to the Opéra de Paris for Lady Macbeth von Mtzensk and the Bayerische Staatsoper for Turandot and Lucia di Lammermoor. Next season he will return to Staatsoper Hamburg where he started his career in their Studio and Ensemble.
