Askonas Holt is delighted to be collaborating with the NAC Orchestra for the first time in 2019, on a nine-date European tour celebrating the orchestra’s 50th anniversary. In addition to symphonic concerts in Saffron Walden, London, Paris, Utrecht, Copenhagen and Stockholm, the orchestra presents the extraordinary Life Reflected to audiences in Paris and Gothenburg. Music Director Alexander Shelley conducts.
Symphonic programmes will include works by Ravel, Brahms, Mendelssohn and Dvořák, as well as an NAC-commission by Serbian-Canadian composer Ana Sokolović and Claude Vivier’s Lonely Child. Alexander and the NAC Orchestra will be joined by renowned performers including Canadian pianist Jan Lisiecki, Korean-Canadian counter-tenor David DQ Lee, Canadian soprano Erin Wall, Canadian violinist James Ehnes, and playwright, director, and actor Monique Mojica.
Life Reflected is a celebration of youth, promise and courage revealed in the compelling and diverse portraits of four exceptional Canadian women: Alice Munro, Amanda Todd, Roberta Bondar and Rita Joe.
“The stories of these four women are some of the most captivating, personal and yet universal stories I have heard. What better way to share them than through the collaborative voices of an exceptional group of artists.” – Alexander Shelley
A unique symphonic experience that immerses the audience in sound, motion picture, photography, and graphic design, Life Reflected brings together four remarkable composers, Creative Producer and Director Donna Feore, and an ensemble of extraordinary performers and multi-media artists.
