Thomas Søndergård conducts the Sydney Symphony Orchestra in a programme featuring Mahler’s Symphony No. 1, Sibelius’ Nocturne and Serenade from King Kristian II suite and Violin Concerto in D Minor, of whom he is an acclaimed interpreter. Joined by celebrated Dutch violinist Janine Jansen, performances take place at the Sydney Opera House Concert Hall from 25 to 30 October. More information here.
Next month, Thomas heads to the Royal Scottish National Orchestra, where he will be Music Director from September 2018, to conduct a programme of Poulenc’s Suite from Les biches, Rimsky-Korsakov’s Scheherazade and Saint-Saëns Cello Concerto No.1 with RSNO’s own Principal Cellist Aleksei Kiseliov. Concerts take place at Edinburgh’s Usher Hall (17 November) and the Glasgow Royal Concert Hall (18 November).
