Toi toi toi to Rosa Feola and Andrea Mastroni who make their returns to the Bayerische Staatsoper, Munich to perform in Árpád Schilling’s production of Rigoletto. Conducted by Daniele Callegari, both singers reprise their signature roles of Gilda and Sparafucile respectively in three performances opening on Sunday 17 June.
Rosa is no stranger to the role of Gilda and has performed Rigoletto across the world, most recently at the Lyric Opera of Chicago opposite Alexander Tysmbalyuk, and at Teatro di San Carlo. Upcoming adaptions include performances at Operhaus Zurich, and her debut at the Metropolitan Opera in Michael Mayer’s Las Vegas–themed production. Rosa will travel to Beijing to perform as Amina in La Sonnambula this summer and later will make her role debut in the title role of Lucia di Lammermoor at Theater Basel.
Similarly, Andrea has a close affinity with the character of Sparafucile, having recently performed the role at the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden, the Staatsoper Hamburg, the Arena di Verona, Opernhaus Zurich, and the Metropolitan Opera, New York. Upcoming engagements include his return to the Staatsoper Unter den Linden, Berlin as Seneca in L’incoronazione di Poppea, Boito Mefistofele at the Filarmonico, Verona, and a role debut in Rodelinda (Garibaldo) at both Opéra de Lille and Théâtre des Champs-Elysées, conducted by Emmanuelle Haïm and also starring Benjamin Hulett and Avery Amereau.
