Nicole Car makes house debut at Bayerische Staatsoper

Nicole Car makes her house debut this week at the Bayerische Staatsoper as Tatyana in performances of Tchaikovsky’s Eugene Onegin.

No stranger to the role, Nicole has performed Tatyana at Opéra de Paris, Royal Opera House, Covent Garden, and Opera Australia. In the New Year, she will take the role to the Deutsche Oper Berlin, joined by Etienne Dupuis and Samuel Dale JohnsonWatch what Nicole had to say about the production in Australia below:

Nicole began an exciting season with her house debut at the Metropolitan Opera performing Mimì in La bohème:

“The Australian soprano Nicole Car brought fine-grained tone and nuanced acting to the role of Mimì. There was a light, linear quality to her singing in the first act that opened up to a richer palette as renunciation and terminal illness darkened her character’s life.”
Corinna da Fonseca-Wollheim, New York Times, 26 September 2018

Future projects for Nicole include La traviata and Faust at Opera de Marseille (alongside Etienne), Micaela (Carmen) and Donna Elvira (Don Giovanni) in a new production at the Opéra de Paris, with Etienne in the title role.

Eugene Onegin runs from 4 to 15 November 2018, also featuring Larissa Diadkova as Filippyevna. For more information see the Bayerische Staatsoper website.
