Following his highly successful debut with MDR Leipzig in performances with cellist Andrei Ionita in September, Nicholas Carter now makes his debut with Oregon Symphony this week, including performances of Wagner’s ‘Forest Murmurs’ from ‘Siegfried’ and Rachmaninoff’s Piano Concerto No. 3 with Marc-André Hamelin. Later this month Nicholas makes his UK debut with the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra, to conduct Barber’s Violin Concerto with Valeriy Sokolov, Ravel’s ‘Tombeau de Couperin’ and Vaughan Williams’ Symphony No.5. Performances take place in Glasgow (27 October) and Ayr (28 October).
Forthcoming plans for this season for Nicholas include further debuts with Florida Orchestra, Hong Kong Philharmonic, Orchestre National de Lille, Deutsche Oper am Rhein (‘Don Pasquale’) and the Kärntner Sinfonieorchester in a special New Year’s programme at the Stadttheater Klagenfurt. He also returns to Deutsche Oper Berlin to conduct ‘La Traviata’ and ‘Hansel und Gretel’. Visits to Australia include Melbourne Symphony Orchestra and varied projects with Adelaide Symphony, including regional touring and projects with soloists Alexei Volodin and Alina Ibragimova.
