Askonas Holt are delighted to announce the general management of the dazzling young mezzo-soprano, Samantha Hankey. Samantha continues to make a name for herself in the United States where she is currently studying at the Juilliard School. One of the best up and coming talents of her generation, Samantha is recipient of a 2016 Sara Tucker Study Grant from the Richard Tucker Foundation and The Bel Canto Vocal Scholarship and has been awarded prizes from The Carolyn Bailey and Dominick Argento Vocal Competition, the Licia Albanese-Puccini Foundation, the Gerda Lissner Foundation Opera Competition and Lieder/Song Competition, Opera Index, Hal Leonard, and the Peter Mennin Prize for Outstanding Achievement and Leadership in Music at Juilliard.
This season at The Juilliard School she will sing the title role in Handel’s Agrippina and Varvara in Janáček’s Katya Kabanova. She has already been heard this season singing Lieder selections of Strauss in Juilliard Songfest and will return to the stage of Lincoln Center’s Alice Tully Hall in March as a winner of the Vocal Arts Honors Recital. This summer she will be an artist at the Merola Opera Program and will sing the title role in Rossini’s La Cenerentola.
We are thrilled to be welcoming Samantha to Askonas Holt!
