It is with great pleasure that we report the appointment of Matthew Rose as the new Artistic Consultant to the Lindemann Young Artist Development Programme at the Metropolitan Opera, New York. Matthew will work alongside Sophie Joyce, the programme’s new Director, to coach the latest intake of young artists on this world-renowned programme.
Speaking to the Met for their press release, Matthew said: “as a student studying singing in Philadelphia, I was able to attend opera performances at the Met, introducing me to great opera, great singing, and great orchestral playing. So it is with much joy that I take on this position with the Lindemann Young Artist Development programme. Enabling the next generation of singers is very important to me and to do it at the world’s leading opera house is an honour beyond measure.”
Beginning his tenure in the 2018/19 season, Matthew will work with young artists in one-to-one coaching sessions and masterclasses throughout the year. He will work on the Lindemann Programme alongside a host of international engagements across the US and Europe. Matthew can next be seen on stage at the Metropolitan Opera this Autumn as Colline in La bohème and Ashby in La Fanciulla del West.
Matthew is an advisory member of the Mahler Foundation and has previously coached young singers at the National Opera Studio and the Britten-Pears Young Artist Program.
