Louis Langrée was appointed Music Director of the Mostly Mozart Festival in December 2002, a contract which has now been renewed until 2020. Louis’ contract as Music Director of the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra, has also recently been extended, until 2022.
Louis will conduct four programmes at this year’s Festival, which opens on 25 July, which will also feature a number of other artists represented by Askonas Holt. These include:
- Edward Gardner, who will conduct a programme including Beethoven’s fourth piano concerto (with Jeremy Denk as soloist) and Schubert’s Symphony No. 5 on the 28 & 29 July with the Festival Orchestra
- Thomas Zehetmair, who will play Beethoven’s violin concerto on the 11 & 12 August with the Festival Orchestra and Andrew Manze conducting
- Ian Bostridge, who will sing Zender’s Winterreise on the 12 & 13 August with the International Contemporary Ensemble and Baldur Brönnimann conducting
- Lucy Crowe will make her role debut as Donna Elvira, alongside Christopher Maltman and Sylvia Schwartz in Don Giovanni on the 17, 19 & 20 August with the Budapest Festival Orchestra and Ivan Fischer conducting
