Kirsten MacKinnon makes Festival d’Aix-en-Provence debut

Young Canadian soprano Kirsten MacKinnon joins the Festival d’Aix-en-Provence for performances of Robert Carsen’s famous production of A Midsummer Night’s Dream at the Poly Theatre Beijing on 15 and 16 October 2016, as part of the Beijing Festival. The performances also form part of the global Shakespeare400 celebrations. This will be Kirsten’s debut as Helena, as well as being her debut with the company.

Kirsten graduated from the Curtis Institute this summer, where her roles included Mimi in ‘La bohème’, Countess in ‘Capriccio’, and Countess in Le nozze di Figaro. In future months Kirsten will sing concert performances as part of Dallas Opera’s “Institute of Young Women” project, sing Pamina in Die Zauberflöte for Canadian Opera, and perform the Countess in Le nozze di Figaro for Garsington Opera (with Duncan Rock and Timothy Robinson, June & July 2017). Further ahead Kirsten will return to Opera Philadelphia and to Glyndebourne, and will sing Ines in L’Africaine for Frankfurt Opera before she joins them as a member of the Ensemble in 2018/19.
