Friday 26 January sees the Spanish premiere of Jake Heggie’s emotionally intense opera Dead Man Walking starring Joyce DiDonato as Sister Helen Prejean, a role she performed to critical acclaim at Houston Grand Opera.

Mark Wigglesworth will conduct this extraordinary piece, in a production by Leonard Foglia, which featured at New York City Opera and Houston Grand Opera.

The cast will then travel onto London to give the UK premiere of Dead Man Walking at the Barbican Centre on 20 February with the BBC Symphony Orchestra, BBC Singers, and Finchley Children’s Music Group. The performance will also be recorded for a future broadcast on BBC Radio 3.
