Jonathan Nott conducts his farewell concerts with the Bamberger Symphoniker

After 16 years as Principal Conductor of the Bamberger Symphoniker, Jonathan Nott will conduct his farewell concerts this week in Bamberg and Vienna. His achievements in Bamberg have been monumental and the partnership has been recognised worldwide as one of most exciting in orchestral music.
“I can’t hear music now, without seeing all my colleagues’ faces in my mind’s eye. In that sense we have an unbreakable bond”, says Jonathan Nott of his achievements in Bamberg. His farewell programme will include the music of two composers who have been a very important part of Jonathan and the orchestra’s journey together; Richard Strauss and György Ligeti. It’s a programme, admits Jonathan Nott, which “says a lot about me and my life as a musician.”
The next chapter of Jonathan’s career will commence in January 2017 when he will take over as Music Director and Artistic Director of the Orchestre de le Suisse Romande
We wish Jonathan and the Bamberger Symphoniker all the best for their final concerts together!
