Jonathan Nott becomes Music Director of Tokyo Symphony Orchestra

The partnership will begin in the 2014/15 season

Jonathan Nott was announced today (10 October 2012) as the next Music Director of the Tokyo Symphony Orchestra.  This exciting new partnership will commence from September 2014, with an initial term of three years.  Jonathan will conduct the TSO eight weeks per season, which will include performances at Suntory Hall and Tokyo Opera City, as well as recording and international touring projects.

Jonathan has been Chief Conductor of the Bamberger Symphoniker since 2000.  In 2010, the prominence of this partnership was acknowledged by the Midem Award for the best symphonic recording (Mahler Symphony no.9).  As a guest conductor, Jonathan continues to lead the world’s leading orchestras, with future collaborations including Staatskapelle Dresden, Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra, Accademia Nazionale de Santa Cecilia, Leipzig Gewandhausorchester and London Symphony Orchestra.
