Harry Bicket & Iestyn Davies join The English Concert for performances of Handel’s Rinaldo

This month, Harry Bicket and Iestyn Davies join The English Concert for performances of Handel’s Rinaldo in London, Seville, Madrid and New York. The first Italian language opera written specifically for the London stage, Rinaldo tells the story of knights and magic set during the first crusade. Featuring Iestyn in the title role, these performances follow The English Concert’s success last season with Handel’s Ariodante.

Performances take place on 10 March (Teatro de la Maestranza, Seville), 11 March (Auditorio Nacional de Música de Madrid, Madrid), 13 March (Barbican Centre, London) and 25 March (Carnegie Hall, New York).

In the remainder of this season Harry will return to the Royal Northern Sinfonia for the St John Passion, and visit the US for guest conducting with Los Angeles Chamber Orchestra, Cincinnati Symphony and performances of Bernstein’s Candide with Santa Fe Opera.

Having just made an acclaimed Broadway debut in Farinelli and the King with Mark Rylance, Iestyn is enjoying a busy season of concerts, recitals and opera. He will soon join Harry Bicket and the Cincinnati Symphony to sing Handel arias. Later this season also includes appearances with The Cleveland Orchestra, Academy of Ancient Music, La Nuova Musica, Fretwork and a much anticipated return to Glyndebourne Festival Opera for the revival of what The Financial Times described as “heart-stopping” performances as David in Saul.
