No less than five of Askonas Holt’s artists feature in new DVD release of Stravinsky’s ‘The Rake’s Progress’.
Askonas Holt is pleased to announce the release by Opus Arte of a new DVD The Rake’s Progress filmed at last summer’s Glyndebourne Festival. The 2010 revival marked the 35th anniversary of this famous and much travelled production at the Festival and John Cox’s legendary production once again received spectacular reviews and featured acclaimed performances from no less than four Askonas Holt artists. Miah Persson sang the role of Anne Trulove, The Guardian reporting that her ‘honey-toned Anne Trulove was enchanting’ and Elena Manistina sang the role of Baba the Turk – ‘star quality’ said The Financial Times. Duncan Rock’s performance as Keeper of the Madhouse helped earn him Glyndebourne’s prestigious John Christie Award and Matthew Rose (himself a former recipient of the John Christie Award) won plaudits for his devilish performance of Nick Shadow with The Spectator judging that ‘…the stupendously malevolent, terrifying Nick of Matthew Rose towers above all of us. This young artist is already great, and will be greater’. The DVD is available from November onwards.
