Frederic Wake-Walker makes his house debut at the Teatro alla Scala with his new production of Mozart’s much-loved classic, Le Nozze di Figaro.
Speaking to journalist Sarah Lambie, he said:
“… Figaro is the most wonderful opera and I can’t think of one that I love more – one that is more complex and intriguing. I did La Finta Giardiniera at Glyndebourne, and when I re-rehearsed that production for the tour I kept thinking ‘I’d really like to direct Figaro now’… and then I was asked to direct Figaro – a beautifully serendipitous thing!”

The premiere of Figaro
on 26 October will be broadcast live on RAI Radio3
while the 2 November performance will be broadcast live on television on RAI 5
and in cinemas
