This week, Edward Gardner returns to the Gewandhausorchester in Leipzig, with performances on the 8, 9, and 11 February. Together, they will perform Takemitsu’s ‘From me flows what you call time’ — a piece first commissioned by the Boston Symphony Orchestra — alongside Grieg’s ‘Lyric Suite’ and Dvořák’s Symphony No. 7. Edward, a noted interpreter of Grieg, has recently released a recording of Grieg’s Piano Concerto and Incidental Music to ‘Peer Gynt’ with the Bergen Philharmonic Orchestra on Chandos.
Future German dates for Edward include a return to the Deutsches Symphonie-Orchester Berlin — following on from his debut in April 2016 — as well as a debut with the WDR Sinfonieorchester Köln.
