Chiaroscuro Quartet embark on first major tour to the US

This month, Chiaroscuro Quartet embark on their first major tour to the US, along with fortepianist Kristian Bezuidenhout. Together, they perform programmes featuring Schumann’s Piano Quintet and Mozart’s arrangement for piano and string quartet of his own Piano Concerto No. 12 K414, as well as works for solo piano by Mendelssohn and Mozart, and string quartets by Haydn and Beethoven.

The audience in Victoria will enjoy a recital by Chiaroscuro alone, and will be able to experience first-hand the drama of Schubert’s Death and the Maiden, which features on the quartet’s most recently released recording, attracting unanimous praise.

Kris’ recording of Haydn piano sonatas – just released by Harmonia Mundi – was selected by BBC Radio 3 as their CD of the Week and highlighted by Gramophone as one of the best new releases this month.

“…the listener is drawn in by the myriad subtleties of Bezuidenhout’s playing and by the glorious sounds he draws from his instrument”
