Asmik Grigorian honoured with Lithuanian National Prize

Soprano Asmik Grigorian has been honoured by the Lithuanian Ministry for Culture after being awarded the National Prize to celebrate her contribution to music in Lithuania. The awards ceremony took place on 6 July in Vilnius.

The prize, established in 1989, celebrates great contributors to Lithuanian culture and arts and highlights members of the Lithuanian world community who represent their country on the international platform.

This season sees her take on the title role in a highly anticipated new production of Salome at the Salzburg Festival, directed by Romeo Castellucci and conducted by Franz Welser-Möst. She will perform the roles of Manon Lescaut and Iolanta at the Frankfurt Opera, Madama Butterfly at the Wiener Staatsoper, Jenufa at the Royal Opera House and Rusalka at Teatro Real Madrid. Asmik will also make her much anticipated debut at the Metropolitan Opera and will debut at La Scala in Die tote stadt.
