Ukrainian baritone Andrei Kymach graduated from the Bolshoi Young Artist programme in 2018, where he worked intensively with his teacher Dmitry Vdovin. Within his tenure he made his role debut as Don Carlos in Dargomyzhsky’s the Stone Guest at the Bolshoi Theatre.
This season marks his debut season after the Bolshoi: his house and role debut at the Gran Teatro del Liceu, Barcelona as Sir Riccardo Forth, originally planned as second cast, but then moving on to sing the opening night alongside Javier Camarena and Pretty Yende. This was followed by role and house debut singing Lord Enrico Ashton Lucia di Lammermoor at the Auditorio de Tenerife and title role debut as Don Giovanni at the Opera de Nice with additional performances at the théâtre d’Antibes. He will finish his season at London’s Queen Elizabeth Hall with a concert performance of Rubinstein’s The Demon (title role).
Last season he gave concert performances of Tchaikovsky’s The Maid of Orleans, conducted by Tugan Sokhiev at the Bolshoi and on tour in France including Halle aux Grains, Toulouse and The Philharmonie de Paris, as well as a concerts at Opera de Nice, Opera de Toulon and a concert with the NHK Symphony Orchestra in Tokyo.
