Thursday night sees the Dutch premiere of Thomas Adès’ ‘Totentanz’ with Simon Keenlyside, Jennifer Johnston and the Concertgebouworkest under Adès’ baton at the Concertgebouw Amsterdam.
Following its hugely successful world premiere at the 2013 BBC Proms (with Simon Keenlyside
, Christianne Stotijn
and the BBC Symphony Orchestra), the piece has been performed across the world in New York, Warsaw, Budapest, Meiningen and Copenhagen, with further performances with the Boston Symphony Orchestra and Los Angeles Philharmonic planned for next season.
In a week of Adès’ music in Amsterdam, the two performances of ‘Totentanz’ also include one of his earlier orchestral works ‘These Premises are Alarmed’. Performances take place on 14 and 15 April. Full details here
