Vilde Frang’s BBC Proms
debut with the BBC Philharmonic and John Storgards on Tuesday 6th August marks the end of an exciting 2012/13 season for the young violinist. After opening the season as the winner of the 2012 Credit Suisse
Young Artists Award and making her debut with the Vienna Philharmonic under Bernard Haitink in September 2012, Vilde’s 2012/13 season has had numerous highlights. She has performed with, amongst others, the Philharmonia Orchestra, WDR Cologne, Gothenburg Symphony and Houston and Atlanta Symphony Orchestras.
Her performances as recitalist and chamber musician at festivals in Schleswig-Holstein, Lockenhaus, Gstaad, Verbier and Lucerne were widely praised. Throughout the season, Vilde toured extensively with her recital partner, Michail Lifits, including performances in London, Munich, Zurich, Milan, New York and Boston.
The approaching 2013/14 season promises to be a tour de force with concerto performances with, amongst others, the Orchestre de Paris, Sydney Symphony, Malaysian Philharmonic, Orchestre National du Capitole de Toulouse, Finnish Radio Symphony and Basel Kammerorchester as well as a return visit to the Philharmonia, and an extensive US tour with St Petersburg Philharmonic and Yuri Temirkanov.
She will also appear in recital in Geneva, Amsterdam, Rotterdam, London, Milan and Bad Kissingen. Vilde will perform an exciting Mozart Sonata project with Michail Lifits in residency at the Park Avenue Armory in New York.
