This week sees Valeriy Sokolov give his debut performance with the MDR Sinfonieorchester Leipzig under the baton of Stefan Asbury. Performing in two concerts at the Theater Erfurt (10 November) and Gewandhaus zu Leipzig (11 November), Valeriy will play Prokofiev’s Violin Concerto No. 2. The concert on 11 November will be recorded and broadcast by both MDR Kultur and MDR Klassik on 12 November, 7.30pm local time. More information on the concerts here.
Having recently given his debut at the Lucerne Festival, this season also sees Valeriy give his subscription debut with the Orchestre de la Suisse Romande. Other future higlights for the 2017/18 season include Valeriy’s return to the National Symphony Orchestra of Ireland, as well as the Concertgebouw with the Noord Nederlands Orkest. He will also begin his role as Artist-in-Residence with the Weimar Staatskapelle, in which he will embark on an extensive US tour with the orchestra and its Music Director, Kirill Karabits.
