has been awarded an Honorary Doctorate (Hon Doc.)
of the University of London by the Royal Academy of Music, in a ceremony that took place at St Marylebone Parish Church on Tuesday. The Academy, as a constituent college of the University of London, has the right to propose illustrious musicians to be awarded the degree of Doctor of Music honoris causa. Trevor is Principal Guest Conductor of the Academy’s Concert Orchestra.
Trevor addressed the graduands at the ceremony, saying “as musicians we are all social workers, there is so much to contribute with the unifier of music in these strange times.”
RAM’s Twitter account quoted the citations for Trevor, saying “from the very earliest years, the Pinnock sound was strikingly idiomatic in its richness, effervescence and unimpeachable musicianliness… Trevor Pinnock’s name is synonymous with some of the most invigorating and thoughtful music-making over the last 40 years.”
