The Berliner Philhamoniker has enjoyed a long and much celebrated tradition in performing Beethoven symphonic cycles around the world. Following recent performances of complete cycles in Vienna, New York, Paris, and Berlin, Askonas Holt is delighted to be returning to Asia in May 2016 with the Berliner Philharmoniker for two concerts in Taipei, followed by a full Beethoven cycle at Suntory Hall in Tokyo.
Under the baton of its Artistic Director Sir Simon Rattle, the Berliner Philharmoniker will perform Beethoven Symphony No. 1, 2 and 9 over two evenings at the National Chiang Kai-Shek Memorial Hall in Taipei. The orchestra will be joined by soloists Iwona Sobotka, Eva Vogel, Christian Elsner, and Dimitry Ivashchenko, as well as the Taiwan National Chorus and BBC Singers. The concerts will be broadcast live to the Taipei public, as well as via the Digital Concert Hall.
The orchestra will then continue with a residency at the famous Suntory Hall in Tokyo, where they will perform a Beethoven cycle, culminating in Symphony No. 9 featuring Japan’s New National Theatre Chorus.
