Introduction

MUSIC DIRECTOR: YANNICK NÉZET-SÉGUIN

The Philadelphia Orchestra is one of the preeminent orchestras in the world, renowned for its distinctive sound, desired for its keen ability to capture the hearts and imaginations of audiences, and admired for a legacy of imagination and innovation on and off the concert stage. The Orchestra is transforming its rich tradition of achievement, sustaining the highest level of artistic quality, but also challenging—and exceeding—that level by creating powerful musical experiences for audiences at home and around the world. With only eight music directors piloting The Philadelphia Orchestra through its history, the ensemble has maintained an unparalleled cohesiveness and unity in artistic leadership. This rich tradition is carried on by Yannick Nézet-Séguin, who began his tenure as the Orchestra’s Music Director in September 2012.

Askonas Holt is proud to have collaborated with the orchestra on many of their UK performances, including concerts at the Barbican and Royal Festival Hall, and at the BBC Proms and Edinburgh International Festival. In 2016 Askonas Holt took the orchestra to Hong Kong for the first time and will bring them to Seoul in June 2017.
