Companhia de Dança Deborah Colker

Introduction

With regular tours to Europe, North America and Asia, Deborah Colker has firmly established her Rio-based company as one of the most exciting on the world stage.

Since exploding onto the London scene in 1999 with "Rota", Companhia de Dança Deborah Colker has returned to the United Kingdom to show its full repertory, establishing a strong relationship with the Barbican Theatre and picking up a prestigious Laurence Olivier Award for "Outstanding Achievement in Dance".

Between April and July 2010, the company gave twenty-nine performances in the UK including the Barbican Theatre and twelve further venues from Truro to Aberdeen. Askonas Holt has also worked with the company in Miami, Baden-Baden and Tokyo, amongst others.

Deborah Colker's latest work, "Tatyana" was premiered in Brazil in April 2011. Away from her own company, Deborah holds the distinction of being the first and only woman ever to direct for Cirque du Soleil. Her production 'Ovo' has now embarked on worldwide touring, to include major cities in the United States, Canada and Australia.

We are pleased to announce that "Tatyana", performed by Companhia de Dança Deborah Colker, will open the dance programme at the 2012 Edinburgh International Festival. The performances at the Playhouse Theatre will run from 11-14 August 2012.
