Thomas Søndergård conducts new production of The Magic Flute at Den Norske Opera, Oslo

Thomas Søndergård makes his debut with Den Norske Opera this Saturday, conducting the first night of ‘The Magic Flute’. Described as a ‘divorce drama in space’, this new production by Alexander Mørk-Eidem features a fantasy universe of strange creatures, wonderful humour and mischief. Celebrated Norwegian actor and comedian Atle Antonsen stars as Papegeno, with Mari Eriksmoen, Eir Inderhaug and Silvia Moi.

During the 2015/16 season Thomas makes further debuts with Leipzig Gewandhaus, Toronto Symphony, Netherlands Philharmonic and Mahler Chamber Orchestra. He also makes return visits to DSO Berlin, Houston, Atlanta and Danish National Symphony Orchestras. Future plans include work with many of his regular guest orchestras, debuts with Deutsche Oper Berlin and London Philharmonic Orchestra, and UK and international touring with BBC National Orchestra of Wales.

Performances of ‘The Magic Flute’ take place between 28 November 2015 and 23 January 2016. Find out more on the Den Norske Opera website.
