The Berliner Philharmoniker in the Big Apple



The Berliner Philharmoniker and Sir Simon Rattle are on the move again, this time taking in the special surroundings of the Park Avenue Armory and Carnegie Hall in New York.  With a packed two-week schedule, Rattle brings a wide range of programmes to America including those featured at the BBC Proms: Peter Sellars’s ritualisation of Bach’s St Matthew Passion with Magdalena Kozena and the critically acclaimed programme of Rachmaninov’s Symphonic Dances and Stravinsky’s Firebird.  Additionally, Simon Rattle and the orchestra are playing two programmes of Schumann Symphonies to accompany the orchestra’s first release with Berliner Philharmoniker Recordings, as well as a performance with violinist Anne Sophie Mutter.
