Stephen Costello features in BBC Four series ‘Gregory Porter’s Popular Voices’

Stephen Costello will feature in the first episode of the BBC series Gregory Porter’s Popular Voices, which will air in the UK on Friday 17 November on BBC Four.

Through this documentary series, Gregory Porter presents a 100-year celebration of the mystery, joy and pain that lies behind some of the greatest voices of the twentieth century. The three-part series begins in Italy, where Enrico Caruso brought opera to the masses in 1902. He and Stephen Costello reflect on the man who became the ‘first global superstar of the recording age’, explore the sound, technique and stagecraft of a tenor, and talk about what it takes to perform the roles that Caruso, and Stephen himself, have played, such as Rodolfo from La bohème and Duca from Rigoletto.

The first episode of Gregory Porter’s Popular Voices will be broadcast on BBC Four on Friday 17 November at 10pm, and available on BBC iPlayer thereafter. More information here.
