Sir Simon Rattle opens the Met’s 2016/17 season

The Metropolitan Opera will open its 2016/17 season, celebrating the company’s fiftieth anniversary at the Lincoln Center, with a new production of ‘Tristan und Isolde’ by Mariusz Treliński, conducted by Sir Simon Rattle. The production is well served by a cast of seasoned Wagnerians including Nina Stemme as Isolde, Stuart Skelton as Tristan, Ekaterina Gubanova as Brangäne, and René Pape as King Marke.

These performances mark Sir Simon’s first return to the Met since his last appearance in 2010, as well as his first Live in HD performance on Saturday 8 October 2016.

The opening night will be streamed live on the Met’s website and SiriusXM, as well as broadcast live in Times Square.

Performances conducted by Simon Rattle take place on 26, 30 September 2016, and 3, 8*, 13 and 17 October 2016. Find out more here
