Simon Keenlyside sings his first Covent Garden Rigoletto

Simon Keenlyside makes a much anticipated return to the Royal Opera, Covent Garden this month to sing the title role in Verdi’s Rigoletto.  Having enjoyed great success in the house as Verdi’s Macbeth and as Posa in Don Carlo, this will be the first time Simon has sung the role of Rigoletto in London.  He first essayed the role for the Welsh National Opera in 2010 and has since gone on to perform the role at the Wiener Staatsoper where further performances are planned later this season, as well as in other major houses in future seasons. Brindley Sherratt returns to the production as Sparafucile, sharing the role with Alexander Tsymbalyuk (17 & 21 September), and Duncan Rock makes his house debut as Marullo. Jette Parker artists Nadezhda Karyazina and Luis Gomes sing Maddalena (17 & 21 September) and Matteo Borsa.
