Barry Millington for the Evening Standard described Joshua's Anne Trulove as "affecting and beautifully sung", and praised Spence who "matches a handsome physique with an attractive, open-throated tone". This was his first Tom Rakewell in London, a role he has sung in Paris, Vienna, Madrid, while Joshua made her role debut in London, having previously enjoyed success as Anne Trulove at Glyndebourne and La Monnaie. Bravo!

The performances continue until 3 February.
