Australian première for Cape Town Opera
After a successful 7-week tour of the UK this Summer, we are delighted to be taking Cape Town Opera to take part in the re-opening season of the Hamer Hall at the Arts Centre Melbourne this September for their Australian premiere.
Cape Town Opera together with Orchestra Victoria will present two gala concerts, details of which can be found below. The first concert (7 September) features operatic scenes and arias from Verdi and highlights from the Gershwin's Porgy and Bess. The second concert (9 September) has an African theme, with excerpts from Mandela Trilogy– a musical tribute to the life of Nelson Mandela – presented alongside the popular African Sanctus.
In addition Cape Town Opera will also work with musicians from the Australian National Academy of Music to present an additional special daytime concert on Saturday 8 September.
This tour follows a successful tour with the Czech Philharmonic at the end of August, when they performed two concerts in the newly re-opened Hamer Hall.
