This month Maxim Mironov makes his role debut as Mr Ford in the Salieri opera ‘Falstaff’ at the Theater an der Wien. This also marks the first time that Maxim works with the renowned conductor Rene Jacobs.
Although the lesser known of the two Falstaff operas, this original Falstaff story is based on Shakespeare’s tale ‘The Merry Wives of Windsor’ with the libretto written by Carlo Prospero Defranceschi, who leads the original plot away from Elizabethan drama and towards the broader strains of opera buffa. It was first performed at the Kärntnertortheater in Vienna in 1799; 200 years after Shakespeare and 100 years before Verdi.
Maxim continues his time in Vienna and performs in Rossini’s ‘La cenerentola’ at the Wiener Staatsoper in November
‘Falstaff’ opens on 12 October 2016 and runs until 23 October 2016. For more information and tickets, see the Theater an der Wien website.
