Matthew Rose at the Met

Following on from last season’s wonderful performances as ‘Bottom’ in A Midsummer Night’s Dream, Matthew Rose is back at the Met this winter in two much-loved operas. First is the role of Colline in Franco Zeffirelli’s classic production of Puccini’s La bohème. This is closely followed by Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg, back at the Met for the first time in eight years and conducted by James Levine, in which Matthew appears as the Nightwatchman.
Matthew has also been busy in the recording studio. Following on from the critically acclaimed recording of Schubert’s ‘Winterreise’ for Stone Records, Matthew’s latest CD ‘Schwanengesang’ has just been released, also on the Stone Records label. For this recording Matthew is joined by pianist Malcolm Martineau and two further Askonas Holt friends – Christina Gansch and Robert Murray who join Matthew for a rare performance of Schubert’s comic ensemble ‘Der Hochzeitsbraten’.
