Tonight sees the opening concert of Maria João Pires’ tour of Japan with young pianists of her Partitura project. Maria and the young pianists will join the New Japan Philharmonic to perform the five Beethoven piano concerti across two concerts at Tokyo’s Sumida Triphony Hall. The three-week tour then continues with a series of recitals across the country.
The Partitura project’s aim is to create an altruistic dynamic between artists of different generations and to offer an alternative in a world too often focused on competitiveness. Maria discussed the project in a recent interview for our website. Click here
