This Friday Lucy Crowe will make her role and house debut as the Handelian Queen of fidelity, Rodelinda, at the Teatro Real Madrid. In a new production by acclaimed stage director, Claus Guth, and under the baton of Ivor Bolton, Rodelinda is performed at the Teatro Real for the first time. The production is coproduced with the Neue Oper Frankfurt, the Gran Teatre del Liceu of Barcelona and the Opéra de Lyon and will run 24 March to 5 April.
Still to come in Lucy’s 2016/17 season is her return to the Royal Opera House as Ismene in Mitridate; her role debut as Donna Elvira Don Giovanni at this year’s Edinburgh Festival and in New York with the Budapest Festival Orchestra under Ivan Fischer; and concerts in Rome with the Accademia Santa Cecilia Orchestra under Sir Antonio Pappano and with the Boston Symphony Orchestra under Andris Nelsons.
