This September, Kirill Karabits begins his first season as General Music Director and Principal Conductor of the Deutsches Nationaltheater und Staatskapelle Weimar.
In an interview
with Nina Large earlier this year, Kirill said, “Weimar is going to be my first music director position with an orchestra and opera company so I hugely look forward to the artistic responsibility and possibility of having an important say in shaping the concert season and guest artists. The theme for my first season 2016/17 will be ‘Orient and Occident’, where we will explore some of the eastern influences in western music and the other way around.”
Kirill will conduct the first Symphony Concert of the season in the Weimar Staatskapelle on 11 September, in a programme of Liszt, Ravel and Strauss featuring soprano Johanni van Oostrum. Find out more here
