This Friday 30 October sees the world premiere of Jake Heggie’s hotly anticipated new opera ‘Great Scott’ starring Joyce DiDonato as Arden Scott and Ailyn Pérez as Tatyana Bakst at the Winspear Opera House, Dallas. Patrick Summers conducts this exciting venture with Jack O’Brien directing.
The opera follows opera star Arden Scott as she returns to her home town to save the struggling company that launched her career. The opening night performance of the long-lost opera she discovered falls on the same night as the home team’s first National Championship game. The fate of the company hangs in the balance as Arden discovers that greatness is truly a matter of heart.
The world premiere takes place on Friday 30 October, with further performances on 1, 4, 7 and 15 November 2015. Further information can be found on the Dallas Opera website

Joyce’s 2015/16 season got off to a great start with her performances as Donna Elvira (Don Giovanni) on The Royal Opera’s tour to Japan last month. She has also been announced as the Echo Klassik Singer of the Year 2015 and returns to both the Metropolitan Opera for further performances of her Elena (La donna del lago) and to The Royal Opera for her first Charlotte (Werther).
Later this season Ailyn returns to Dallas as Manon; to Houston to sing the Countess (Le nozze di Figaro), sings her role debut as Musetta (La bohème) at the Metropolitan Opera and returns to Santa Fe Opera as Juliette (Romeo et Juliette).
