Jonathan Nott conducts his inaugural concert as Music and Artistic Director of the Orchestre de la Suisse Romande

Tonight, Jonathan Nott conducts his inaugural concert as Music and Artistic Director of the Orchestre de la Suisse Romande. He first met the orchestra in 2014 and received widespread critical acclaim for his performances of Mahler Symphony No. 7 and Beethoven Symphony No. 6 Pastoral. He will open the season with Ravel’s Spanish Rhapsody and Piano Concerto in G major (joined by Pierre-Laurent Aimard), and Debussy’s Images for Orchestra.

“It is with huge anticipation and pleasure that I take up this appointment with the distinguished Orchestre de la Suisse Romande. Why anticipation? Because nothing can give a greater sense of freedom to a Music Director, about to embark on a long journey with his orchestra, than the total commitment of his players. So, I enter this relationship knowing that I have their overwhelming support to work long and hard together, exploring familiar and new repertoire, and ensuring that this fine ensemble is recognised as one of the foremost in the orchestral scene.” – Jonathan Nott

Tonight’s performance takes place at the Théâtre de Beaulieu, Lausanne. Jonathan then takes the orchestra on tour, with concerts in Geneva, San Sebastian, Zaragoza, Madrid, Murcia, Alicante and Oviedo. For more information please visit the orchestra’s website.
