Rodion Pogossov

Born in Moscow, baritone Rodion Pogossov joined the Lindemann Young Artist Development Program at the beginning of the 2000/01 season. During the 2001/02 season, he made his debut at the Metropolitan Opera as the Herald in 'Otello' in the Met’s Opening Night Gala and also performed the roles of Marullo in 'Rigoletto' and Fiorello in 'Il Barbiere di Siviglia'. During the 2001/02 season, Pogossov made his Carnegie Hall debut with The Metropolitan Opera Chamber Ensemble, singing Stravinsky’s 'Renard', under the baton of James Levine. During the 2002/03 season, he made his Carnegie Hall recital debut.

He has recently sung Malatesta in 'Don Pasquale', Harlequin in 'Ariadne auf Naxos' and Papageno at the Met, Guglielmo in 'Cosi’ fan tutte' with Glyndebourne Touring Opera and a recital at the Frankfurt Opera, Papageno at the Bilbao Opera conducted by Spinosa, 'Eugene Onegin' at the Festival de Lanaudiere conducted by Kent Nagano and at the Welsh National Opera, Cardiff.

His future engagements include Papageno in 'Zauberflote' at the Canadian Opera Company, Valentin in 'Faust' at the Bilbao Opera, 'Elisir d'amore' at the Oviedo Opera, 'Der Vampyr' by Marschner at the Teatro Comunale Bologna, Robert in 'Iolanta' with the LSO conducted by Vladimir Jurovsky and the Count in 'Le nozze di Figaro' at the WNO.

He has also recorded a solo recital disc for the prestigious EMI Debut Series.
