Orquesta Nacional de Espana OCNE
The Orquesta Nacional de Espaņa is considered Spain's finest orchestra and was founded in 1937 during the Spanish civil war. As well as probably being the best exponent of Spanish music, the Orquesta Nacional de Espaņa also regularly introduces audiences to new commissions, having been conducted by such figures as Stravinsky and Hindemith, and more recently, Penderecki and Benjamin. The orchestra's Principal Conductor, Josep Pons, is widely considered to be one of Spain's most engagingly contemporary conductors.
