Nihon Buyo Foundation
First recorded in 712 AD, Nihon Buyo is the oldest form of Japanese traditional dance. In March 2005 it made its London debut at the Peacock Theatre, as part of a tour that also included the Edinburgh Festival Theatre. Comprising some of Japan's leading performers, and led by 'National Living Treasure' Nishikawa Senzo, the group illustrated to packed houses that these elegant and meditative masterpieces offer a vital counterpoint to the hectic pace of modern Japanese life.
