Mikhail Kazakov

Russian bass Mikhail Kazakov studied at the Kazan State Conservatoire and Tartar State Academy Opera and Ballet Theatre. During his study years, he attained awards at many international competitions including the Elena Obratsova International Singers’ Competition, Glinka International Vocal Competition, Toulouse International Vocal Competition, Maria Callas International Vocal Competition in Athens, Tchaikovsky International Competition in Moscow and the International Vocal Competition in Peking. Since 2001, Kazakov has been a regular soloist at the Russian State Academy Bolshoi Theatre.

Kazakov has sung extensively in opera houses and theatres worldwide, including the role of Il Commendatore in 'Don Giovanni' at the Wiener Staatsoper, Ramfis in 'Aida' and Gremin in' Eugene Onegin' at the Deutsche Oper am Rhein, Gremin at Palais d’Art in Montreal, Ferrando in ' Il Trovatore' at Washington National Opera. He has also sung Filippo in 'Don Carlo' and Zaccaria in 'Nabucco' with Maestro Viotti at Sachsonian Semperoper, Ramfis in 'Aida' at Liège Opera House and the title role in 'Boris Godunov' at the Royal Opera House in Covent Garden under Alexander Vedernikov. As well as regular appearances with the Bolshoi Theatre, his future engagements will include 'Boris Godunov' with the Dallas Opera, USA.
