Lucerne Festival Orchestra
Formed as recently as 2003 from the members of the Mahler Chamber Orchestra, the Lucerne Festival Orchestra is conducted by Claudio Abbado. This specially formed orchestra meets every August to open the Lucerne Festival (Summer) and recently gave highly successful concerts in Tokyo's Suntory Hall with performances of Mahler's Sixth Symphony and Schumann's Piano Concerto played by Maurizio Pollini.
