Jian Wang

Jian Wang

Jian was born and brought up in China and discovered at an early age by Isaac Stern with whom he was featured in the celebrated documentary From Mao to Mozart. He later travelled to the West to study at Yale University and since then his career has gone from strength to strength.

During the 2007/8 season Jian Wang’s engagements include the Camerata Salzburg, Gulbenkian Orchestra and a tour of Spain with the Swedish Chamber Orchestra. In the Far East he also has return engagements with the Hong Kong Philharmonic, Singapore and Taiwan National Symphony Orchestras.

Jian Wang has made many recordings with DGG, Reverie (arrangements for cello and guitar) and the Bach Cello Suites being his most recent releases. He has also recorded a Baroque Album with the Camerata Salzburg, the Brahms Double Concerto with the Berliner Philharmoniker, Claudio Abbado and Gil Shaham and the Haydn Concerti with the Gulbenkian Orchestra and Muhai Tang as well as many chamber discs.
